The Challenge
After an extremely successful and profitable run of 10 years, the runDisney platform went on hiatus in 2017 due to construction around the Resort. In 2022 Disneyland decided to bring back one of their marquee events to the West Coast. The challenge presented that much of the talent and history from the first generation of runs had left the organization. And the running market was much more complex and expensive than the first time.
The Solution
The first call from the Disney Resort was to Spectrum Sports Management to re-engage our institutional knowledge; experience in the market; resources for all aspects of the race course; and general consulting. With just over a year lead team, the entire Spectrum Sports Management team was immersed in bringing to life one of the most dynamic and valuable brands in entertainment and running.
The Results
After successfully managing the planting of the very first half marathon weekend over 12 years prior, Spectrum Sports worked alongside Disney talent to reimagine and relaunch the Disneyland Half Marathon weekend in January of 2023 and went on to bring another half marathon weekend to life in September of that year. The weekends now sell out regularly and are eagerly anticipated by runners around the country.
