Melanie Cardenas
Director of Timing
Melanie is a native of Southern California and an expert in the operation and scoring on multiple timing platforms. Before joining Spectrum Sports, she was a lead timer with Spartan Race where she spent over 5 years working her way up from on-site customer and hardware support, to team lead and lead timer both domestically and abroad. As a lead timer, she was able to lend her expertise in creating scoring and results auditing protocols as new events were rolled out to market. Now she brings her skills for registration, timing, and race data analysis to the Spectrum team.
Melanie will serve as your primary contact for new events to ensure that you are properly supported in all phases of the registration and timing process. Having timed and scored runs, obstacle races, cycling and multi-sport events, she is well positioned to assist your event with the latest in technology and timing applications. And to resolve any questions and discrepancies that may arise on site.
Melanie has spent the past 21 years in the fitness industry specializing in aquatic fitness and HIIT. In 2007 she started an IT consulting business with her husband offering custom automation software for small businesses. Her running journey began as a participant in the 2009 LA Marathon through Team In Training. She then became a run coach for Team In Training before moving on to obstacle course racing and Ragnar Relays in her spare time. Eventually, Melanie moved from the role of a participant to event staff in order to let her passion for the running community shine through her dedication to quality events and results.
